Our soft play room is used by all children in school. It is made from soft padding and has a ball pool, climbing equipment and a sensory hideaway. We know from research that sensory play allows children to engage with their environment, develop social skills, language and learn. For children with special educational needs where a child’s ability to learn in the same way as their peers is affected, sensory play can be highly beneficial. As children learn to use their senses more and more, the better they become at exploring the world.
All classes have access, and it is used regularly for small group and 1:1 sessions including:
- Physiotherapy sessions
- Sessions to develop physical skills, including walking
- Safe space for children who need time to calm
- Space for children to play
